Make any milestone wedding anniversary unforgettable! Here’s everything you need to know about requesting a free Presidential greeting from the White House.

Did you know that married couples celebrating their 50th, 60th and 70th milestone anniversaries can receive a free anniversary greeting from the White House? The White House greeting, signed by the current President and the First Lady, makes a unique anniversary keepsake gift that will be cherished for generations. The best part is that it’s completely free, although it does take a bit of planning and patience.

Here’s how you can get a free Presidential greeting for any milestone anniversary.

How To Send A Presidential Greetings Request

The only requirement for a Presidential anniversary greeting is that the recipients are U.S. citizens celebrating their milestone 50th, 60th or 70th wedding anniversaries.

The key to sending in your White House greetings request is to allow plenty of time for it to be processed and returned by the date you need it.

Your request should be polite, courteous, succinct and direct. Be very clear about the greeting type you are requesting and when you need it. Be respectful and include a note of thank you in your request.

Above all, make sure that you include all of the information that is required for your request to be processed. Requests that don’t meet the requirements or contain all of the necessary information will not be fulfilled.

Double-check your letter before sending to ensure everything is correct and in order. The last thing you want is for the request to be denied because you missed crucial information or even worse, if there is an error in your greeting because of a spelling error or typo.

Here’s an example of what the greeting might look like:

Note: You can also send in a request for other White House greetings, such as a wedding, the birth of a child and for 100th birthday celebrations.

What To Include In Your White House Greeting Request

Your White House greeting request must include the following:

1. Recipient’s Names – Who is receiving the greeting and how the greeting should be addressed (i.e. Mr. & Mrs., first names, etc.)
2. Anniversary Date – The month, day and year of the anniversary and how many years the couple has been married
3. Mailing Address – Where the greeting should be sent to (directly to the couple or to you)
4. Requesting Person’s Info – Your name, phone number and email address

Where To Send Your Presidential Greetings Request

There are a number of different ways to request your White House greeting. You can send in your request directly to the White House or go through your Senator or House Representative. But no matter which method you choose, factor in enough time for your request to be processed and returned.

1. Email The White House

Probably the easiest and quickest way to send in your request is to contact the White House by filling out the Presidential Greeting online contact form at www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-greeting. The updated online request form makes it easy to enter in all of the necessary details of your request, as outlined above.

2. Mail Your Request To The White House

You can also send in your request through mail directly to the White House. If you decide to mail in your request, it’s suggested that you type your letter on a standard 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper and address it to:

The White House
Attn: Greetings Office
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20500

3. Contact Your Senator Or Representative

Finally, you can send in your request directly to your Senator or House Representative. The advantage in going this route is that you can also request a greeting from them. You can find your Senators here and your Congressmen and women here.

When To Expect Your White House Greeting

Although there is no guarantee that your White House greeting will arrive by the date you need it, most greetings are mailed out approximately 14 days prior to the event.

Send in your request as early as possible and make sure to include all of the required information to ensure your request can be processed.
